Our New Dancer Program participants are encouraged to join the Orange Coast Lariats as associate members, enjoying full membership privileges with two exceptions. The Associate member pays student donations for the class and they do not dance at the club's mainstream dances until completing the mainstream portion of the class. This gives them a better sense of belonging and are more likely to participate in other club functions.

The Orange Coast Lariats are fortunate in having Bruce "Bubba'' Jackson as its Caller/Instructor, with Bruce's wife Dottie a very active and supportive member. Both have demonstrated a willingness to help whenever needed, providing immeasurable contributions. Bruce learned calling immediately after learning to dance, leaning heavily on his experience and expertise in country western singing, developed some years ago in Texas. Bruce's popularity is rising right along with his skills and we encourage you to dance with him when you have the opportunity.
Bruce cut two records for the Ocean Records label, a part of the Prairie Mountain Ocean (PMO) group. The first, Be Bop a Lula, was released last April and was followed by Try A Little Kindness, the Glen Campbell hit. In fact, the first pressing sold out almost immediately and a second run was made. We are sure this will bring Bruce some well deserved national recognition.
